What can I say about Matt to actually convince you this guy is not only one of the best realtors in Michigan, but probably in the nation. I am a mortgage professional myself and have very high expectations for realtors. My wife and I had just moved to Michigan from California and we did not know any realtors and went with Matt off of a referral from our lender. I had an initial call with him and let him know my wife was a PAIN when finding what she likes and that I don't want to eat up all his time viewing homes, we could go by ourselves and let him know if we find anything we like, Matt refused to not help us. He came with us to every single property. 8am on a Saturday, 9pm on a Wednesday, noon on a Sunday...we checked out maybe 20 properties all over Macomb and Oakland counties. Matt never once complained and was enthusiastic in helping. He was determined to make sure we found the right home. After several bidding wars we found the perfect home and had an offer accepted (after Matt recommended we write a heartful letter to the sellers) AND there were 25 other offers, several higher than what we offered, and they still went with us. Unfortunately, the appraisal came in MUCH lower than expected. We offered to go out of pocket 25k to make up for it cause we fell in love with the house, but the listing agent was adamant they would get a better offer even with a lower appraisal and the sellers backed out. We were defeated and unmotivated to move forward. Matt found a backup property and scheduled a showing a week later. As we were getting ready to make an offer on the new one Matt called us and said "James we are not buying this house." I said "why not? They had an offer accepted?" and Matt said "No, we are actually buying the original house that you both loved. I have been negotiating with the realtor and we think we can make it work." Wow. Not only did Matt not give up, he negotiated a deal where we were paying 30k less than our original offer and got the sellers to throw in a bunch of free stuff at the house! We moved in right away after closing. I can not tell you how impressed I was with Matt. I put him in my absolute highest regards when it comes to being a realtor. If you are considering using him you need to just go with him and let him work his magic for you.

He protected my time and interests while selling my house so that I would be comfortable and so that I would benefit from the sale. He advised me along the way, keeping me informed and explaining every detail so that I had the knowledge and information to make a sound decision. Selling and buying a house is such a stressful process, especially in this market. Matthew was so great to work with. He handled the sale of my old house and purchase of my new house. I appreciated how knowledgeable he was and his ability to point out the pros and cons of the houses we looked at, things that I never would have thought of, while keeping in mind the things that were important to me. Matt Berney helped my wife and I purchase our first home this past summer! Matt is the absolute best in the business. He got to know my family from the moment we met, even my two little kids would call him Mr Matt!
